Algerian Pastry Products and Equipment Expand Presence in International Markets

ALGIERS, March 13th, 2026 — Algerian pastry products and baking equipment are increasingly reaching international markets, reflecting the growing competitiveness of the country’s agro-food sector. Speaking on Thursday in Algiers, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, praised the quality and diversity of national production in the pastry and confectionery industry.
According to the minister, several locally manufactured pastry products and utensils are now being exported to multiple countries after domestic producers successfully met demand within Algeria. Once the needs of the national market and Algerian households were sufficiently supplied, companies gradually began turning toward external markets, signaling a new phase of development for the sector.
Rezig made the remarks during the inauguration of the Pastry Products and Equipment Exhibition, held in the presence of the Minister of Domestic Trade and National Market Regulation, Amel Abdellatif, and the delegated governor of the administrative district of Hussein Dey, Nadjia Nassib. The minister noted that the growing competition among companies seeking to expand exports illustrates the progress achieved by the industry in recent years. He emphasized that these results align with the government’s economic strategy aimed at implementing the development program of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
For her part, Abdellatif highlighted her ministry’s continued commitment to promoting national products and ensuring that the domestic market remains adequately supplied with a wide range of consumer goods. She explained that the exhibition—organized by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion—demonstrates the vitality of Algeria’s food processing sector, particularly through the diversity and quality of locally manufactured products on display.
The minister also pointed to the presence of Algerian-made gluten-free products, designed to meet the needs of consumers living with Celiac Disease. According to Abdellatif, such initiatives contribute both to diversifying consumer offerings and to responding more effectively to the dietary needs of different segments of the population. She further stressed that the ministry continues to support consumers by monitoring product quality while simultaneously assisting domestic economic operators through simplified procedures and initiatives that encourage investment and innovation.
The exhibition is being held at the Sablettes Promenade in Algiers and will run until March 16. Around 50 exhibitors are taking part, including producers and suppliers specializing in confectionery industry equipment, baking tools, decorative and packaging materials, as well as essential ingredients and production components. Financial institutions and organizations supporting entrepreneurship and project development are also participating.
Organized under the slogan “Local Quality and Export Prospects,” the event aims to support economic operators, promote national production, and open new pathways for Algerian confectionery companies seeking to expand their presence in international markets.
