Algerian People’s National Army Strengthens National Security: Over 34 Quintals of Processed Cannabis Seized, Terrorist Networks Dismantled, and Major Narcotics and Smuggling Operations Foiled in October 2025

Algiers – November 2025 – The Ministry of National Defense has released a comprehensive report detailing the Algerian People’s National Army’s (ANP) operations during October 2025, reflecting a relentless commitment to national security and territorial integrity. According to the ministry, these operations resulted in the neutralization of ten terrorists and the arrest of 22 individuals providing logistical or operational support to armed groups.
In the course of these counter-terrorism measures, the ANP eliminated one terrorist, captured seven others, and recorded two voluntary surrenders. The crackdown extended to networks aiding terrorism, with 22 suspects apprehended. The operations further led to the seizure of five firearms, 68 hunting rifles, and the detention of 1,447 individuals implicated in smuggling and illegal gold panning activities.
The fight against drug trafficking yielded significant results, with 242 narcotics traffickers arrested, 34.54 quintals of processed cannabis seized, 85.16 kilograms of cocaine confiscated, and 2,268,320 psychotropic tablets removed from circulation. Additionally, the army intercepted 1,691 undocumented migrants of various nationalities and seized 156,667 liters of fuel intended for illicit trade.
These achievements, according to the Ministry of National Defense, underscore the unwavering vigilance and continuous mobilization of the ANP in safeguarding Algeria’s borders, securing the homeland, and maintaining public order.
