Algerian Police Chief Farid Bencheikh Engages in International Policing Cooperation at Interpol’s 91st General Assembly in Vienna

ALGIERS- The Director General of National Security (DGSN) of Algeria, Farid Bencheikh, is actively participating in the 91st session of the General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) in Vienna. Heading a delegation comprised of the Director of Judicial Police, the Chief of the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Algeria, and the Chief of Security for the El-Oued province, Bencheikh is engaging in discussions on strengthening operational and technical cooperation to address security threats.

The ongoing session coincides with the 100th anniversary of the founding of Interpol, and its official opening ceremony was attended by Larbi Latroch, the Ambassador of Algeria to Austria. The four-day session aims to explore mechanisms to enhance police cooperation in the face of evolving security challenges.

In addition to participating in the general discussions, DGSN Farid Bencheikh has held bilateral meetings with counterparts from Russia and Switzerland. These meetings, initiated at their request, focused on exploring avenues to reinforce cooperation and exchange experiences between the police forces of Algeria, Russia, and Switzerland.

The discussions during the assembly cover a broad spectrum of topics related to international policing, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling contemporary security threats. The Algerian delegation’s active involvement underscores the nation’s commitment to global cooperation in maintaining international security and combating transnational crime.
