Algerian Red Crescent Launches Major Humanitarian Initiative in Batna

Algiers, Algeria | August 11th, 2024 — In a pivotal humanitarian effort, Dr. Ibtissem Hamlaoui, President of the Algerian Red Crescent, spearheaded a significant initiative in Batna today, showcasing the organization’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities. The event included the distribution of school supplies, upgrades to local health facilities, and the inauguration of a new Red Crescent office.

School Supplies Distribution

Dr. Hamlaoui led the distribution of 125,000 school backpacks and educational materials to families in need. This effort is part of the Algerian Red Crescent’s ongoing mission to improve educational access for children from underprivileged backgrounds. By alleviating financial burdens on families, this initiative ensures that children have the essential resources for their schooling.

Healthcare Facility Enhancements

In addition to educational support, Dr. Hamlaoui oversaw significant improvements in local healthcare infrastructure. Two new treatment rooms were equipped in the “El-Ghabba” and “Thnia El-Abed” areas, aiming to enhance local healthcare services and provide better medical support to the community. Additionally, the Algerian Red Crescent donated two fully equipped ambulances to strengthen emergency medical services in the region.

Inauguration of New Local Office

The day also featured the inauguration of a new local Red Crescent office in Siryana, Batna. This new facility is expected to improve the organization’s outreach and operational capabilities in the region. During the visit, Dr. Hamlaoui, accompanied by local officials, met with the mayor and other local authorities to discuss ongoing projects and future plans for the Red Crescent’s initiatives.
