Algerian Red Crescent Launches Nationwide Ramadan Solidarity Program to Support Vulnerable Families

𝓐𝓵𝓰𝓲𝓮𝓻𝓼 – 𝓕𝓮𝓫𝓻𝓾𝓪𝓻𝔂 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – In line with its humanitarian mandate as the official relief arm of the Algerian state, the Algerian Red Crescent has unveiled an extensive and comprehensive national solidarity program to be implemented throughout the holy month of Ramadan. This large-scale initiative aims to accompany and support vulnerable families while reinforcing the deeply rooted values of social solidarity and mutual aid across the entire national territory.

At the heart of this program is the distribution of more than 200,000 food parcels, each weighing 26 kilograms and containing essential basic commodities. This operation will be carried out in close coordination with local authorities to accurately identify families in need, while also relying on the Algerian Red Crescent’s digital platform “Mustafid,” designed to enhance transparency and efficiency in aid delivery.

The initiative will cover all municipalities nationwide, with all food parcels scheduled to reach the wilayas before the start of Ramadan. Wilaya-level committees will continue receiving and distributing aid throughout the sacred month. As of February 7, 2026, 31 wilayas have already received their allocated shares, which have been distributed across their respective municipalities.

In parallel, the Algerian Red Crescent will open more than 400 Iftar restaurants across the country, providing meals for fasting individuals, travelers, and those in need, while also ensuring the distribution of hot meals throughout all wilayas. Additionally, 17 large-scale Iftar tents will be set up in several regions, including Algiers, Oran, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Médéa, Aïn Defla, Boumerdès, Mascara, In Guezzam, El Meniaa, Adrar, M’sila, Boussaâda, Laghouat, Batna, Bouira, Khenchela, and Mostaganem. Each tent will accommodate between 800 and 1,200 fasting individuals daily.

The solidarity effort further extends to international airports in Algiers, Oran, and Constantine, where Iftar meals will be distributed to travelers. A daily Iftar service will also be provided at the Kharouba bus station in the capital, benefiting approximately 1,200 passengers each day.

Demonstrating a holistic and inclusive approach, the program includes a dedicated initiative to support inmates of correctional facilities and their families. Moreover, more than 47 Quranic schools are set to benefit from assistance, with over 32 already supported to date, and operations continuing.

As part of the accompanying solidarity activities, the Algerian Red Crescent has planned the distribution of more than 50,000 Eid clothing sets for orphans, alongside the organization of 20,000 circumcision procedures for children, accompanied by collective celebration ceremonies. The organization’s medical committee will also continue deploying medical caravans across all wilayas, in addition to conducting awareness campaigns in most Iftar restaurants, particularly focusing on diabetes management and appropriate dietary practices during Ramadan.

The implementation of this ambitious national program will rely on the mobilization of more than 12,100 volunteers across the various wilaya committees, with an exceptional and notable participation of university students this year.

In conclusion, the Algerian Red Crescent has issued a call to all benefactors, donors, and institutions to support and contribute to this nationwide solidarity operation, reaffirming that collective commitment remains the cornerstone of social cohesion and humanitarian action during the holy month of Ramadan.
