𝓐𝓵𝓰𝓲𝓮𝓻𝓼 – 𝓕𝓮𝓫𝓻𝓾𝓪𝓻𝔂 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – In a sweeping nationwide mobilisation ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, the Algerian Red Crescent (ARC) has launched one of its largest annual solidarity campaigns, pledging to distribute more than 250,000 food parcels to vulnerable families across the country. The initiative underscores a renewed commitment to social cohesion and humanitarian outreach at a time when collective solidarity remains a cornerstone of Algerian society.

Operations are already underway at major provincial warehouses, where large-scale loading and dispatch activities continue in preparation for timely distribution. According to Mohamed Meziane, representative of the Algerian Red Crescent, the campaign has thus far covered 34 wilayas and will extend to the remaining provinces before the start of Ramadan, ensuring comprehensive national coverage.

“This operation reflects the scale of our commitment to reaching the greatest possible number of families in need during the holy month,” Meziane stated in a press briefing. The distribution of over a quarter of a million food parcels marks a significant logistical and organisational undertaking, aimed at alleviating financial pressure on low-income households and reinforcing the values of compassion and mutual assistance that define Ramadan.

Beyond food parcel distribution, the campaign includes an extensive network of solidarity initiatives. More than 400 Iftar restaurants will open their doors across the country to provide meals for travelers and individuals in need. In addition, approximately 17 large-scale tents will be erected nationwide to host fasting individuals and serve communal Iftar meals, creating inclusive spaces of support and shared humanity.

The scale of volunteer engagement further highlights the campaign’s national dimension. An estimated 12,100 volunteers will participate across various wilayas, supported by a strong mobilisation of Algerian university students. This broad civic participation not only strengthens the operational capacity of the initiative but also embodies the spirit of collective responsibility that Ramadan inspires.
