Algerian Red Crescent Sends 130 Tons of Aid to Tunisian Border Communities

Tebessa, Algeria – In a remarkable display of solidarity and compassion, Dr. Ibtissem Hamlaoui, the President of the Algerian Red Crescent, personally oversaw the dispatch of more than 130 tons of humanitarian aid to Tunisia. This generous effort is directed towards eligible members of the Algerian community and Tunisian families residing along the border strip in Tunisia. The aid shipment includes 8,000 food parcels, 2,000 school bags, and 2,000 aprons.

Dr. Hamlaoui, accompanied by dignitaries including the Governor of Tebessa Province, Said Khalil, the Consul of Algeria in Kef, Mr. Boubaker Hachemi, the Consul of Algeria in Gafsa, Mr. Issain Mohamed, Rais (Head) of the White Water Department, and the Mayor of Al-Haouibet Municipality, led this humanitarian mission. Civil, security, and military authorities were also present to support this noble cause.

This significant aid shipment, received by the representative of the Algerian Consulate in Tunisia, marks the first phase of an ongoing commitment to provide essential support to border communities during the winter months.

The initiative aligns with the guidance of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune emphasizing the importance of caring for residents in border regions. Dr. Hamlaoui and the Algerian Red Crescent have taken this directive to heart, and their actions speak volumes about the organization’s dedication to humanitarian work.

In addition to this recent aid delivery, the Algerian Red Crescent has also supervised the establishment of two treatment facilities in the rural region of Aisha Um Chouicha and the border region of Gargara in the province of Tebessa. These efforts underscore the organization’s commitment to addressing the pressing needs of those in border areas.
