𝓐𝓵𝓰𝓲𝓮𝓻𝓼 – 𝓕𝓮𝓫𝓻𝓾𝓪𝓻𝔂 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – In a move to reinforce bilateral security ties, Algeria’s Director General of National Security, Ali Badaoui, received on Saturday the Somali Police General Commander, Brigadier Asad Osman Abdullahi, along with a high-level Somali security delegation. The meeting, held at the headquarters of Algeria’s National Security Directorate and attended by Somali Ambassador Yusuf Ahmed Hassan Yusuf, underscores the growing cooperation between the two nations in addressing evolving security threats.

Expanding Bilateral Security Mechanisms

The discussions began with focused bilateral talks before expanding to include the broader delegations. Key topics covered included specialized training programs, cybercrime prevention, forensic and technical policing, and strategies to counter transnational organized crime. This engagement reflects a shared commitment to proactively addressing the challenges posed by the rapidly changing security landscape in Africa.

Practical Exchanges and Knowledge Sharing

As part of the program, the Somali delegation conducted field visits to Algeria’s operational and technical units, gaining insight into Algeria’s successful approaches to combating criminal networks and emerging forms of delinquency. These practical exchanges aim to provide the Somali authorities with tools and expertise to enhance their national security apparatus.

Towards a Sustainable Security Framework

Beyond technical collaboration, both sides expressed the intention to establish a long-term framework for coordination. This framework will emphasize the sharing of expertise, joint capacity building, and the development of integrated strategies to strengthen regional stability. Algeria’s experience in law enforcement, combined with Somalia’s commitment to reform, signals a new chapter in African security cooperation, one rooted in mutual support and knowledge transfer.
