At the BIOL International Olive Oil Competition in Italy, Algeria’s Braza Olive secures gold among global contenders, reinforcing the nation’s growing reputation in premium organic production.
Algiers, Algeria | May 3rd, 2025 — In a moment of international pride and agricultural excellence, Algerian brand Braza Olive has won the gold medal at the 30th edition of the BIOL International Prize for Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oils, held in Rome, Italy. The competition, which took place at the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forests, gathered the finest organic olive oils from across the globe, including entries from renowned producers in Italy, Greece, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, Portugal, Slovenia, Chile, and Saudi Arabia.
Braza Olive, cultivated in the Bessai olive estate in Bordj Bou Arreridj, was awarded this distinction in recognition of its exceptional quality, aroma, and adherence to organic standards. Certified by Biocert, the brand stood out among hundreds of participants, positioning Algeria firmly among the elite of international olive oil producers.
The award was received on behalf of the company by Mohamed Khelifi, Algeria’s ambassador to Italy, during an official ceremony held in Rome. In a statement shared on its official Facebook page, the Algerian Embassy in Italy proudly celebrated this win, calling it “a new addition to a growing list of international recognitions that affirm Algeria’s excellence in the production and export of olive oil that meets the highest European standards.”
This gold medal victory is not merely a testament to Braza Olive’s craftsmanship but also reflects the broader success of Algeria’s agro-food sector. It marks a strategic milestone in the country’s efforts to promote sustainable agriculture, boost export diversification, and showcase local expertise on global platforms.
