Fighting Cheating and Digital Fraud: A National Call for Transparency and Integrity in Algeria’s Education System

 

Algiers, Algeria | May 27th, 2025 — In a resolute effort to safeguard the integrity of national examinations and reinforce the foundational values of fairness and meritocracy, Algeria’s Ministry of Justice has launched a wide-ranging national media campaign under the slogan: “Combating Exam-Related Compound Crimes during Final Examinations of Middle and Secondary Education.”

The campaign, officially set to launch on Wednesday, May 28 at 8:30 AM at the headquarters of the Algiers Judicial Council, is designed to raise public awareness regarding the escalating threats posed by electronic cheating and the unlawful leaking of exam materials—malpractices that have increasingly compromised the credibility of Algeria’s educational system in recent years.

This initiative forms part of a broader legal and institutional strategy aimed at preserving the integrity of academic assessments and ensuring a level playing field for all students. The Ministry seeks to alert students, parents, and the public to the legal repercussions and potential criminal penalties tied to acts such as the use of banned digital devices during examinations, the dissemination or acquisition of leaked content, and any form of complicity in these offenses.

The Ministry of Justice also highlighted the vital role of the media in disseminating preventive messages and cultivating a culture of academic integrity and civic duty. In its official communiqué, the Ministry stressed that: “Guaranteeing equal opportunities for all students begins with a shared commitment to transparency, adherence to the law, and a firm rejection of all manifestations of fraud.”
