Algeria’s Ministry of National Defense Sounds the Alarm Against Fake News Campaigns

In a video statement released on its official Facebook page, the Ministry underlined that Algeria is currently the target of some of the most ferocious disinformation campaigns in its modern history. These attacks, it stressed, are not accidental—they are orchestrated operations designed to sow discord, undermine national cohesion, and weaken the state’s credibility.
Disinformation as a Weapon of War
The MDN drew attention to the fact that misinformation is no longer mere rumor but a strategic weapon in hybrid warfare, deployed by hostile actors who seek to achieve through lies what they could never secure through confrontation. In this context, the Ministry called on Algerians to recognize that their critical thinking and vigilance represent the strongest shield against these malicious campaigns.
Citizens as the First Line of Defense
The statement emphasized that every Algerian bears a responsibility in this information battlefield. Refraining from sharing unverified content, cross-checking facts before forwarding them, and resisting the lure of sensational narratives are civic duties of paramount importance. “Consciousness is armor, and truth is a weapon,” the MDN asserted, reminding citizens that unity and lucidity are the surest guarantees of national stability.
Reaffirming the principles of the “New Algeria,” the Ministry stressed that the nation advances with confidence and determination, backed by the solidarity and loyalty of its people. This resilience, forged in the crucible of history, has allowed Algeria to overcome colonization, resist terrorism, and prevail against countless trials. Today, that same cohesion will ensure the nation’s ability to neutralize attempts at destabilization.
The communiqué concluded with an unambiguous declaration: Algeria’s strength lies in its indivisible unity and its unbreakable bond between people and state. No hostile agenda, however sophisticated, can erode the foundations of a nation that has always turned adversity into victory.
