Algiers, Algeria |  As Algeria commemorates National Army Day on August 4, the country pauses to honor the People’s National Army (ANP) not merely as a military institution, but as a living symbol of national pride, sovereignty, and the indelible bond between the people and their armed forces. Established in 2022 by presidential decree, this day marks the historical transition of the National Liberation Army (ALN) into the modern ANP on August 4, 1962—an institutional metamorphosis that continues to define Algeria’s post-independence trajectory.

Beyond its ceremonial dimensions, National Army Day stands as a moment of profound national reflection.
