National broadcaster denounces Abu Dhabi’s media campaign as an assault on Algeria’s unity, identity, and historical legacy, warning of irreversible consequences.
Algiers, Algeria | May 3rd, 2025 — Algeria’s national broadcaster issued a searing editorial Friday night, strongly condemning what it described as an unprecedented and calculated media assault by the United Arab Emirates, which it accused of “crossing all red lines” in a blatant attempt to undermine Algeria’s sovereignty, unity, and national identity.
In an unflinching tone, the editorial labeled the Emirates a “micro-state” whose actions reflect not diplomatic disagreement, but a “desperate ideological offensive” aimed at destabilizing Algeria’s internal cohesion and historical consciousness. The public channel warned that this escalation represents not a simple media spat, but “a dangerous attack on the ancestral foundations of the Algerian people and a violation of sacred national constants.”
“This artificial micro-state, devoid of real roots or sovereignty, has taken it upon itself to target Algeria—homeland of one and a half million martyrs—with the sole intent of gaining favor with forces disturbed by Algeria’s growing stability, sovereignty, and independent voice,” the editorial charged.
The broadcaster went further, accusing the UAE of “weaponizing its tendentious media platforms to serve a subversive agenda.” It stressed that Emirati outlets have irresponsibly “exploited divisive historical narratives through the use of an ideological merchant trafficking in distortions of history”—a thinly veiled reference to recent controversial commentary that has ignited public anger in Algeria.
According to the national broadcaster, this orchestrated campaign aims to “sow discord among the components of the Algerian identity” and represents a “desperate attempt to rewrite history, question the origins of the nation, and fracture its unity.” The editorial left no room for ambiguity, calling the UAE’s maneuver “an unforgivable provocation that Algeria will never tolerate nor overlook.”
Citing Algeria’s own formidable legacy, the editorial declared, “Algeria, with its blood-soaked struggle for liberation and centuries of resistance, will never bow to ideological toxins spread by hybrid entities masquerading as sovereign nations. It will not be baited, nor will it remain silent in the face of such lowly attempts to dilute its dignity and historical truth.”
In a particularly striking conclusion, the broadcaster branded the UAE “an ideological toxin factory,” asserting that Abu Dhabi has transformed into a platform for regional sedition. “The Algerian people will not forgive or forget this affront. We do not yield to media manipulation, and we stand firm against all attempts to poison our national narrative.”
