Algeria’s Transport Sector Poised for Renewal Under Minister Sayoud’s Leadership

Algiers, September 2025 – In a first move since assuming his new portfolio, Saïd Sayoud, Minister of Interior, Local Assemblies and Transport, convened on Tuesday a high-level coordination meeting to assess the current state of Algeria’s transport sector and to chart future mechanisms of action.
The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, gathered CEOs, Directors-General of affiliated institutions, and senior officials of the sector. It was framed as a strategic moment to inject greater dynamism and efficiency into the management of Algeria’s multifaceted transport infrastructure.
Minister Sayoud underscored the positive strides already achieved in maritime, air, and rail transport, while noting the rigorous follow-up required in land transport. He called on stakeholders to consolidate these achievements through renewed commitment, determination, and a results-oriented approach.
“We must adopt a practical vision, anchored in seriousness and strong political will, while accelerating the pace of work and taking decisions commensurate with the nation’s expectations,” Sayoud affirmed, urging executives and senior managers to act with urgency and clarity.
The Minister emphasized his confidence in the competence and resilience of Algeria’s transport professionals, commending the efforts already invested by leaders and cadres alike. He insisted, however, that the challenges ahead demand collective perseverance, institutional synergy, and unwavering dedication to deliver tangible outcomes for citizens.
In his closing remarks, Sayoud framed this new chapter as not merely administrative, but transformative. The sector, he asserted, must rise to its pivotal role in serving national development, facilitating mobility, and bolstering Algeria’s international connectivity.
