Algeria’s Weather Forecast for Monday, 22 December 2025: Cold Temperatures, Heavy Rainfall and Snowfall Across Northern Wilayas
Algiers – December 2025 – Algeria is set to experience a marked deterioration in weather conditions on Monday, 22 December 2025, as cold air masses bring widespread rainfall, thunderstorms and snowfall across all northern wilayas, according to the latest forecast issued by the National Meteorological Office.
In the western and central regions of the country, skies will remain heavily clouded and rainy throughout the day. Weather services warn of frequent showers that may at times be stormy and locally intense, accompanied by hail, particularly over coastal areas and inland regions. A gradual return to clearer conditions is expected toward the late afternoon. Snowfall is also forecast over elevated areas, with snow levels reaching 1,100 meters and, locally, dropping to around 900 meters above sea level.
Eastern regions will witness a progressive thickening of cloud cover, followed by significant rainfall episodes that may also be stormy and accompanied by hail across both coastal and interior zones. Snow is expected to fall on high ground at altitudes reaching or exceeding 1,000 to 1,100 meters, further reinforcing the wintry character of the day.
In southern Algeria, cloudy intervals with thunderstorms are anticipated over northern Béchar, the northern Sahara and the Oasis regions. An improvement in weather conditions is forecast from the afternoon onward over Béchar and the northern Sahara. Elsewhere in the South, skies will generally remain clear to partly veiled, offering more stable atmospheric conditions compared to the North.
Temperatures will reflect the cold spell affecting much of the country. Morning temperatures are expected to range between 9°C and 17°C along the coastal regions, between 1°C and 14°C across the interior and High Plateaus, and between 6°C and 25°C in the Sahara. During the afternoon, readings will drop to between 7°C and 15°C along the coast, 2°C to 14°C inland and over the High Plateaus, and 7°C to 27°C in the Saharan regions. Nighttime temperatures will fall further, ranging from 7°C to 10°C in coastal areas, from -2°C to 7°C in the interior and High Plateaus, and between 2°C and 18°C across the Sahara.
