Algérie Poste, National Office of Wakfs and Zakat Forge Strategic Framework for Digital Zakat Payments

Algiers – December 2025 – In a move towards modernizing public service delivery and enhancing financial transparency, Algérie Poste and the National Office of Wakfs and Zakat, operating under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, signed a strategic framework agreement this Wednesday.
The agreement, formalized at the headquarters of Algérie Poste, was signed by the institution’s Director-General, Ms. Chiraz Bachiri, alongside Mr. M’hamed Bouziane, Director-General of the National Office of Wakfs and Zakat. It establishes a structured framework for cooperation, coordination, and the exchange of expertise across areas of mutual interest. Central to this partnership is the activation and development of electronic Zakat payment mechanisms, alongside the management, dispatch, and distribution of postal consignments from the Office through targeted execution agreements tailored to specific service requirements.
According to Algérie Poste’s official statement, the institution has already initiated the nationwide implementation of its dedicated electronic Zakat payment system. This includes the deployment of QR codes in key public spaces and across the Office’s digital platforms, enabling citizens to complete Zakat payments instantly and securely via the BaridiMob application or directly on the Office’s official website. This initiative aims to streamline processes, simplify citizen access, and ensure complete oversight over Zakat collection channels.
In her statement, Ms. Bachiri emphasized that the convention embodies Algérie Poste’s commitment to facilitating the fulfillment of this vital pillar of Islam electronically, with simplicity and security, while guaranteeing that collected amounts are transferred in full, free of deductions or commissions.
Mr. Bouziane highlighted Algérie Poste’s historical role as a pillar of citizen life, praising the institution for its openness and collaboration at every stage of implementation. He underscored the high level of understanding and efficiency that positions Algérie Poste as a natural partner for any institution committed to serving society.
