Algiers, Hanoi Step Up Economic Cooperation with Focus on High-Value Industrial Partnerships

This initiative forms a direct continuation of the official visit to Algeria by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in November 2025, which provided a clear political impetus to the strategic partnership between the two countries.
During his stay in Algeriaโs western economic capital, the Vietnamese ambassador held a series of working meetings with the Wali of Oran, Brahim Ouchene, the Director of the Oran Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Larbi Ahmed, as well as several local economic operators. These exchanges highlighted the strong complementarities between the Algerian and Vietnamese economies and identified concrete avenues for cooperation, particularly in agro-food industries, processing activities, and productive investment.
On this occasion, Tran Quoc Khanh recalled the significant outcomes of the Vietnamese Prime Ministerโs visit to Algeria, while presenting Vietnamโs structural strengths and accumulated expertise in industrial development, agro-transformation, and export-oriented production targeting regional and international markets. Representatives of Vietnamese companies expressed a clear interest in investing in Algeria, with the dual objective of introducing competitive agro-food products to the domestic market and positioning Algeria as a strategic gateway to North Africa and the wider African continent.
For their part, local authorities welcomed the Vietnamese delegation and emphasized the favorable conditions offered to foreign investors in Algeria. They underlined the principle of equal treatment between national and foreign investors, alongside the support mechanisms and incentive schemes put in place by the Algerian state. The industrial zones of Es-Senia and Hassi Ameur were presented as priority hubs for the establishment of high value-added industrial projects.
According to Kasouse Fadela, Head of the Activities and Economic Affairs Department at the Oran Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Algerian market offers substantial opportunities for foreign investors, particularly in strategic sectors such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, confectionery production, food preservation, and aquatic product processing. These sectors closely align with Vietnamese know-how and with Algeriaโs national strategy to diversify its economy.
Beyond figures and declarations of intent, this visit confirms a broader political and economic convergence between Algiers and Hanoi, rooted in a shared history of anti-colonial struggle, a common vision of sovereign development, and a strong commitment to SouthโSouth cooperation. It paves the way for sustainable industrial partnerships between Algerian and Vietnamese companies, aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, creating local added value, and consolidating the VietnamโAlgeria strategic partnership within a forward-looking and durable framework.
