Algiers International Airport Hosts DGSN-Led Awareness Activities for Children Amid Peak Travel Season

Algiers, Algeria– Thursday, July 17, 2025 | As part of its ongoing public outreach and civic education mission, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) launched a series of awareness activities for children at Algiers’ Houari Boumediene International Airport. Conducted in collaboration with Algiers Airport Services and Infrastructure Management Company (SGSIA), and featuring the participation of the beloved artist Belabbas Yazid—better known as “Amo Yazid”—the initiative aligns with the summer holiday season, a period characterized by heightened family travel and child mobility.

In an official statement, the DGSN emphasized that this initiative seeks to foster early awareness among children about safety norms, particularly road safety, while also offering them an engaging and recreational environment during their transit.

Dedicated recreational spaces were set up within the airport premises, comprising drawing workshops and interactive games designed to educate and entertain simultaneously. In addition to hands-on engagement, the event featured the distribution of colorful awareness brochures tailored to young readers. These publications, rich in illustrations and accessible language, focused primarily on road safety measures, offering key behavioral guidelines to help children internalize basic principles of personal safety and civic responsibility.

Notably, practical exercises were also held, where children were encouraged to participate in role-play simulations. These exercises, supervised by trained personnel, aimed to teach essential reflexes and precautionary attitudes to adopt in real-life scenarios—be it as pedestrians, passengers, or future drivers.
