Ali Badaoui Showcases Algeria’s Policing Strategy Against Transnational Organized Crime in China

Algiers – September 2025 – Against the backdrop of rising global security challenges, Algeria has once again reaffirmed its proactive role in international law enforcement cooperation. On the sidelines of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (GPSCFL) 2025, held from September 16 to 18 in the People’s Republic of China, the Director General of National Security, Ali Badaoui, outlined Algeria’s comprehensive policing approach in combating transnational organized crime.
At the head of a high-ranking Algerian delegation, Badaoui emphasized Algeria’s multidimensional strategy targeting illicit drug trafficking, economic crimes, money laundering, and the increasingly menacing scourge of cybercrime. He called for greater constructive cooperation between global law enforcement bodies, underlining that such collaboration has become an urgent priority in the face of borderless threats. Platforms such as the United Nations, INTERPOL, and continental as well as regional policing mechanisms, he argued, remain indispensable in building a more coordinated and resilient international security system.
The forum itself served as a strategic platform, bringing together senior law enforcement officials and representatives of regional and international security organizations to exchange expertise, debate innovative mechanisms, and foster collective solutions to evolving threats.
On the sidelines of the forum, Badaoui—accompanied by Algeria’s Ambassador to China, Lahcen Kaid Slimane—visited NORINCO in Beijing, where he examined the company’s latest technological innovations in the field of public security.
He also held high-level meetings with several law enforcement leaders, including Liu Zhengyi, Assistant Minister of Public Security and Director General of Criminal Investigations of the People’s Republic of China, the Deputy Director of Public Security of Hubei Province, and Demelash Gebremichael, Commissioner General of the Ethiopian Federal Police.
Additionally, the Algerian delegation engaged in multiple bilateral side meetings with counterparts from other participating nations. These exchanges were devoted to sharing perspectives, discussing common policing priorities, and reinforcing operational coordination mechanisms, while also advancing technical and operational capabilities in law enforcement cooperation.
