ANEP Hosts Press Conference Honoring Yasmina Sellam and Her Internationally Acclaimed Culinary Work

Algiers, Algeria | June 11th, 2025 — The National Publishing, Advertising, and Communication Agency (ANEP), in partnership with the Haizia Communications Agency, will host a press conference on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 12:00 PM, in honor of acclaimed Algerian writer and agricultural engineer Yasmina Sellam. The event will take place at the Moufdi Zakaria Palace of Culture in Algiers, ahead of Sellam’s departure to Lisbon, Portugal, where she will compete in the grand finals of the 2025 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.

The international spotlight shines on Sellam’s most recent publication, “Couscous – Roots and Colors of Algeria”, released by ANEP Publishing. The book has been nominated as a finalist in the “Culinary Culture” category, underscoring Algeria’s rich gastronomic heritage and elevating couscous from a traditional dish to a vibrant cultural symbol.

Minister of Culture Zouhir Ballalou is expected to attend the event, lending official support to Yasmina Sellam, who has emerged as a true cultural envoy of Algerian cuisine. The press conference aims to spotlight not only her literary achievement but also her role in advancing Algeria’s culinary identity on the international stage.

During the event, Yasmina Sellam will reflect on her journey crafting this heritage-centered book, which explores couscous as a multifaceted, intergenerational dish deeply embedded in Algeria’s regional and cultural mosaic.
