ANP Neutralizes Terrorist in Tébessa as Counterterrorism Operation Intensifies

Algiers – October 2025 – In a move underscoring Algeria’s relentless counterterrorism resolve, units of the People’s National Army (ANP) eliminated a terrorist on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in the rugged region of Djebel El-Abyad, within the military sector of Tébessa. The operation also led to the recovery of a Kalashnikov-type submachine gun and various other items, according to an official statement issued by the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).
The ministry confirmed that this intervention forms part of a broader high-precision military operation currently underway in the Tlidjene region, also in Tébessa’s 5th Military Region. That same operation had previously yielded significant results on September 23, 2025, when six terrorists were neutralized, and six Kalashnikov rifles, along with a substantial quantity of ammunition and other materials, were seized.
With the latest engagement, the cumulative outcome of the ongoing offensive now stands at seven terrorists neutralized and seven automatic weapons recovered—an outcome the Ministry describes as “a testament to the efficiency and professionalism of ANP detachments and the effectiveness of the strategic approach endorsed by the High Command.”
The MDN emphasized that these sustained operations reflect the Armed Forces’ firm and unwavering commitment to eradicating the remnants of terrorism, restoring stability, and safeguarding the nation’s internal security. The communiqué further reaffirmed that the ANP will continue to exert every effort to ensure peace, security, and serenity across all regions of the national territory.
