Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development Explores Investment Opportunities in Algeria’s Private Sector

During a High-Level Meeting with the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, FADES Signals Commitment to Supporting Private Sector Growth under its New Strategic Vision

Algiers, Algeria | May 19th, 2025 — As part of an official working visit to Algeria, the Director General and Chairman of the Board of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (FADES), Mr. Bader Mohamed Al-Saad, was received on Monday by Mr. Omar Rekkache, Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), at the Agency’s headquarters in Algiers. The meeting was attended by senior executives from both sides.

The discussions centered on exploring concrete mechanisms for financing and supporting private sector investment projects in Algeria, in line with FADES’s newly adopted strategic orientation that prioritizes the empowerment of the private sector across its member states.

In his address, Mr. Rekkache delivered a comprehensive presentation on Algeria’s business climate and investment ecosystem, highlighting the broad range of incentives and privileges granted to investors, the financial and institutional tools available to support project realization, and the Agency’s pivotal role in both accompanying domestic investors and attracting foreign direct investment.

He also underscored the Agency’s growing efforts to facilitate partnerships and streamline project execution, particularly for initiatives led by private actors, which are now at the heart of Algeria’s renewed economic growth strategy.

The Arab Fund delegation expressed strong interest in the investment potential of Algeria’s private sector and confirmed the Fund’s readiness to provide financial guarantees and concessional funding to help overcome barriers and accelerate the implementation of viable projects.

Both parties agreed to maintain close coordination and to schedule a series of upcoming technical meetings aimed at defining priority investment projects and mapping out the financing modalities required to bring them to fruition with FADES backing.
