ARAV Mediates Settlement Between Dzair Tube and Algiers Airport Management Company

Algiers, Algeria | May 8th, 2025 — The National Independent Authority for Audiovisual Regulation (ARAV) announced on Thursday that it has successfully mediated a dispute between Dzair Tube, an electronic television channel, and the Algiers Airport Management Company, reaching a mutual agreement between the two parties.

According to the statement issued by ARAV, the resolution follows a series of mediation efforts launched in recent days, in line with the authority’s mandate defined in Article 41 of Law No. 23-20 concerning audiovisual activity. The law empowers ARAV to mediate conflicts arising from audiovisual content through institutional means.

The dispute had initially escalated into formal complaints filed by both parties. However, with both sides showing willingness to engage in dialogue, the authority was able to bring them to the negotiating table. As a result, a settlement was reached, and both parties expressed their readiness to withdraw their legal complaints. This outcome reflects a shared commitment to resolving media-related disagreements through structured dialogue rather than confrontation.

ARAV emphasized the importance of verifying information prior to dissemination and reiterated its call for open communication between public institutions and accredited media outlets. It also warned against any unjustified restrictions or pressure on journalists, underlining the need for professional cooperation that respects the role of the press.

The authority stated that it will continue to support all actors in the audiovisual sector and promote a culture of communication and mutual respect. It reaffirmed its mission to help maintain an informed and balanced media environment in Algeria.
