Arkab Reaffirms Algeria’s Pivotal Role in OPEC+ as JMMC Convenes to Safeguard Global Oil Market Stability

Algiers – October 2025 – Algeria’s Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, is taking part today, via videoconference, in the sixty-second session of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC), a key OPEC+ body tasked with overseeing compliance with voluntary production adjustments and formulating recommendations to preserve the stability of the global oil market.
According to the ministry’s statement, the JMMC convenes every two months, providing an essential platform for member states to evaluate adherence to production agreements and to exchange in-depth analyses of current market conditions, while also projecting the short-term trajectory of the oil industry.
The high-level committee brings together energy ministers from nine key oil-producing countries. Algeria, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Kuwait, Nigeria, and Venezuela are joined by Russia and Kazakhstan as non-OPEC participants, underscoring the global dimension of this alliance.
During this session, ministers are assessing the level of compliance with production commitments for July and August 2025 and are conducting a thorough review of the international oil market’s volatility and challenges. Discussions focus on the complex interplay of geopolitical tensions, supply-demand dynamics, and the enduring necessity of collective discipline to mitigate instability and safeguard balanced energy markets.
Minister Arkab reaffirms Algeria’s unwavering commitment to OPEC+’s collective efforts, stressing that Algeria’s strategic input remains a cornerstone in fostering both market equilibrium and producer-consumer trust.
