ALGIERS- As Algeria commemorates the 69th anniversary of the Glorious Revolution of Liberation, Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), has delivered a powerful message to all members of the ANP, both civilian and military. In his message, he reaffirms that the Glorious Revolution was no mere accident, but the result of a long and arduous struggle, marked by successive popular resistances and the dedication of individuals who turned to armed resistance after exhausting peaceful and political avenues.
Army General Chanegriha emphasizes that these individuals believed that the colonizer only understood the language of force and that what was taken by force could only be regained by force. They knew that the will to achieve independence was synonymous with the power to do so, and victory was the ultimate equivalent of that power.
“It is in this manner that they put an end to oppression and restored the Algerian nation’s right to live in dignity, freedom, and independence,” he asserts. He also highlights that these chapters of Algeria’s history serve as a constant reminder of the sacrifices made by the predecessors of the National Liberation Army, who solemnly committed themselves to reclaiming national sovereignty from the usurping colonial powers.
Simultaneously, General Chanegriha emphasizes the immense responsibility placed on the National People’s Army to preserve this precious legacy. He remains convinced that the men and women of the ANP are fully capable of shouldering this great and weighty responsibility, and they will not hesitate to make any necessary sacrifices.
The ANP, as the worthy heir of the National Liberation Army, celebrates this anniversary with pride, dedicated to strengthening the strong bond between its members and their national heritage. Army General Chanegriha underscores that the army has revolutionary roots, embraces the noble values of patriotism, and values the role of memory in the nation’s state-building process. He quotes the late Mouloud Kassem Nait Belkacem, who once said, “A nation that does not preserve its authenticity has no place in history.”
Leveraging this rich foundation of values, the People’s National Army, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defense, is committed to enhancing its power while maintaining the highest operational readiness to protect the nation’s supreme interests and contribute to the construction of a strong and resilient Algeria, regardless of the circumstances.
