As the World Denounces the Zionist Entity, the Makhzen Sinks Deeper into Betrayal

Algiers, Algeria | June 11th, 2025 — At a time when the international community is increasingly condemning the crimes of the Zionist entity in occupied Palestine, the Moroccan regime—under the rule of the Makhzen—has plunged into unprecedented levels of complicity and betrayal. Far from halting its steps toward normalization, Rabat is brazenly expanding its ties with Tel Aviv through military, economic, and political cooperation, drawing sharp condemnation from national and regional pro-Palestine organizations.

According to a statement by the Moroccan Front for the Support of Palestine and the Fight against Normalization, cited by Algeria’s APS news agency, the regime “is deepening its alliance with the criminal Zionist entity, flagrantly defying the conscience of the Moroccan people who remain unwavering in their solidarity with Palestine.” The organization denounced the normalization pacts as nothing less than “a betrayal of the Palestinian cause—the central cause of the Arab and Islamic nation.”

While Palestinian civilians endure daily massacres, the Makhzen presses forward with what activists describe as a “humiliating and rejected path,” trampling the calls of the Moroccan people who have flooded the streets in countless demonstrations. The Moroccan Instance for the Defense of National Causes reminded that these mass protests are not mere emotional reactions to the genocidal assault on Gaza but “a principled stand against all forms of complicity with the Zionist entity.”

The organization emphasized that normalization agreements not only contradict the values of the Moroccan people, but represent “a flagrant betrayal” of the Palestinian struggle. It stressed that the ongoing public mobilization across Moroccan cities sends “a concrete message to those who portray normalization as a strategic choice: the people will not compromise their principles, nor accept Palestine being reduced to a political bargaining chip.”

In a sharp rebuke of recent decisions by local authorities, the same statement demanded the immediate cancellation of all military and commercial deals with Zionist entities, particularly those implicated in war crimes and the deliberate targeting of civilians and infrastructure in Gaza.

Urban Judaization and Public Outrage

The Moroccan public is also reeling over a disturbing new trend: the Judaization of urban spaces, with streets and public places being renamed after Zionist-linked or Jewish Moroccan figures amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Local reports cited by APS revealed that Abdellah El Feryadi, who presents himself as the head of the so-called Moroccan Institute for Human Rights in Agadir, has formally requested Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, also mayor of Agadir, to rename city streets in honor of Jewish personalities.

The move was swiftly condemned by the activist group Moroccans Against Zionism, which accused the authorities of pushing normalization to extreme levels. “As Gaza is being annihilated, this so-called human rights institute has the audacity to suggest replacing the names of Moroccan streets with those of Jewish figures. It is an arrogant insult to a people who unanimously reject the Zionist entity as their primary enemy,” the collective declared.

Ahmed Wehman, president of the Moroccan Observatory against Normalization, issued a stark warning: “Zionist interference in Moroccan affairs has shifted from soft infiltration to overt political threats and direct intervention.” He described the current situation in the country as one of “unprecedented degradation, fragmentation, and moral collapse,” urging immediate resistance to this descent into national disgrace.

The continued normalization with the Zionist entity, against the backdrop of an unfolding genocide in Palestine, has become for Moroccans not only a political scandal but a moral catastrophe. As the Makhzen digs itself deeper into subservience to Zionist interests, it stands increasingly isolated—internally and globally—facing a nation that refuses to sell out its values or its solidarity with Palestine.
