ALGIERS- In a move aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and fostering cooperation, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has accepted an invitation from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to visit Algeria. The announcement came following a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, and President Vucic.

The meeting, part of Minister Attaf’s visit to Serbia on behalf of President Tebboune, highlighted the shared commitment of both countries’ leaders to elevate their relationship to new heights. The historical cooperation between Algeria and Serbia, rooted in their respective struggles for independence, forms the foundation of the strong political will that now drives their mutual aspirations.

During their discussions, President Vucic conveyed his appreciation for the warm greetings extended by President Tebboune and expressed his desire for the visit to take place before the end of the year. The Serbian President voiced optimism that this visit would mark the beginning of a new phase in Algerian-Serbian relations, characterized by enhanced cooperation and collaboration.

In addition to emphasizing the historical ties between the two nations, the talks underscored their commitment to upholding the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter and the values of the Non-Aligned Movement. Against the backdrop of prevailing tensions in international relations, Algeria and Serbia affirmed their dedication to strengthening consensus and supporting each other on matters of mutual interest.

To facilitate President Vucic’s forthcoming visit, both countries have agreed to undertake several ministerial activities, including a preparatory visit by the Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs. These engagements will serve to lay the groundwork for productive discussions and identify areas of cooperation that can further benefit the two nations.

The anticipated visit of President Vucic to Algeria holds significant promise for deepening ties in various fields, such as trade, investment, culture, and education. It presents an opportunity for both countries to explore avenues of collaboration and capitalize on their shared goals and interests.

Algeria, located in North Africa, and Serbia, in Southeast Europe, may seem geographically distant, but their historical connections and shared aspirations transcend distance. By fostering closer ties, Algeria and Serbia have the potential to contribute to regional stability and advance their respective socio-economic development.
