ALGIERS- In a significant milestone for the Algerian automotive market, Chinese manufacturer Baic Beijing marked the commencement of its operations in Algeria last Sunday. The inauguration ceremony, held at the brand’s dealership in Bir Mourad Raïs (Algiers), heralded the introduction of Baic Beijing’s diverse range of vehicles to Algerian consumers.
According to Algerie Eco, Baic Algérie unveiled a comprehensive lineup of Baic Beijing vehicles, spanning various models and trim levels. The range offers something for every preference, with prices ranging from 2,699,000 DA for the entry-level U5 sedan to 19,602,854 DA for the luxurious BJ80 SUV.
Among the models introduced are the EU5 midsize sedan, available in a fully electric variant, the compact X3 crossover starting from 2,750,000 DA, the larger X55 crossover priced from 4,090,000 DA, and the X7 SUV, with prices starting from 4,970,000 DA. Notably, Baic Algérie also announced the option for customers to purchase these vehicles with a veteran’s license.
In his inaugural address, Nouredine Seriak, General Manager of Baic Algérie, expressed pride in the launch of Baic’s operations in Algeria after months of anticipation and effort by their teams. He invited customers to visit their showroom and experience the quality, reliability, and seriousness associated with the Baic brand.
Looking ahead, Baic Algérie has plans to expand its operations in the medium term by revitalizing its vehicle assembly plant in Batna. This facility, a joint venture between Algerian operator Seriak Noureddine (90%) and Chinese manufacturer Baic (10%), assembled five car models in 2018. Initially targeting 30,000 units in the first year, the plant aims to ramp up production to 150,000 units in the medium term, reflecting Baic’s commitment to the Algerian market and its potential for growth.
