Bengrina Calls for Nationwide Mobilization to Confront External Threats and Uphold Algeria’s Sovereignty

Algiers, Algeria | May 17th, 2025 — Speaking from the southern province of Laghouat, Abdelkader Bengrina, President of the El Binaa El Watani Movement, issued an appeal for a broad national mobilization led by the state and reinforced by political parties and civil society to confront the multifaceted challenges facing Algeria.

During a mass political rally hosted at the Takhay Abdallah Ben Kerriou Cultural Center, Bengrina emphasized the urgency of unity and cohesion among all Algerians, asserting that today’s circumstances require a collective national front to safeguard Algeria’s core principles, independence, and sovereign decision-making.

“All Algerians are called upon to stand united,” he declared, while reiterating Algeria’s steadfast commitment to its national fundamentals and its uncompromising sovereignty. Bengrina warned that Algeria is currently facing intensifying external pressures across political, economic, security, and media domains—pressures he attributed to Algeria’s independent foreign policy and principled international stances.

In this context, Bengrina renewed Algeria’s unwavering support for liberation movements, naming Palestine and Western Sahara as central causes that reflect the values of Algeria’s historic revolution for freedom and dignity. “Standing with these just causes,” he affirmed, “is an expression of fidelity to our national history and to the sacrifices of our martyrs.”

The El Binaa leader also praised the substantial achievements of the Algerian state, asserting that the country continues to enjoy abundant national resources and strategic stability despite global economic challenges. He saluted the state’s adherence to the social model enshrined in the founding principles of the 1st November Declaration, stressing its importance in shielding vulnerable citizens.

In a particularly sharp denunciation, Bengrina condemned what he described as a “failed conspiracy” orchestrated by the Moroccan Makhzen regime, accusing it of weaponizing drug trafficking networks as part of a subversive campaign targeting Algeria’s youth. He described young Algerians as the “backbone of the nation and the elite of its future,” urging vigilance against these cross-border threats.
