Algiers, Algeria | June 21st, 2025 — On Saturday, June 21, 2025, Abdelkader Bengrina, President of the El Binaa al-Watani Movement, delivered a rousing speech during a major public rally held in Médéa under the slogan: “Social Security Is the Bastion of National Dignity.” The event, rich in historical homage and political urgency, marked a new phase in the party’s nationwide mobilization initiative aimed at reinforcing societal resilience, patriotism, and collective awareness.

Opening with reverence to the region’s illustrious past, Bengrina paid tribute to its legacy of resistance, learning, and religious scholarship, citing legendary figures like Dr. Mohamed Ben Abbi Sheboub, Emir Abdelkader, Martyr Mohamed Bouguera, Moudjahid Lakhdar Bouregaa, and the late Sheikh Mahfoud Nahnah, whom he described as “a symbol of moderation, national unity, and dignified political struggle.” Bengrina called on President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to immortalize Nahnah’s legacy by naming a national institution after him.

Turning to the theme of the rally, Bengrina framed social security not as a bureaucratic mechanism, but as the spiritual and institutional core of national resilience. He underscored the necessity of mobilizing citizens beyond electoral competition, declaring:

“We do not gather here for partisan slogans or electoral gains, but to renew our covenant with the Algerian people… to exchange awareness and solidarity, to listen, and to stand together against the tides of internal and external challenges.”

Bengrina’s address arrived at a moment of heightened regional tension. He denounced the Zionist-Western alliance’s aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, decrying the complicity of some Arab regimes, notably Morocco, in aligning militarily with Tel Aviv.

“It is a treacherous and shameful moment when Arab soldiers fight alongside Zionists against a sovereign Muslim state pursuing scientific and technological self-determination,” Bengrina stated. “Yet this war has also revealed a collective awakening across the Arab and Islamic world—an overdue alignment against injustice.”

He warned that the attack on Iran follows the same imperial playbook seen in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Sudan, and Palestine, asserting that the collapse of social solidarity is the primary cause of defeat in the Muslim world. By contrast, he lauded the examples of Gaza, Iran, and Pakistan, where societal unity and values-based resistance have thwarted attempts at subjugation.

Calling for a National Charter for Social Mobilization, Bengrina argued that Algeria must institutionalize its commitment to national cohesion, social justice, and ethical governance.

“Security is not a police officer on the corner,” he declared. “It is a just court. A dignified hospital. A transparent bank. A patriotic school. A fearless media. A governance system rooted in dignity, accountability, and service.”

He laid out a multi-dimensional framework for social security, including:

  • Combating unemployment by creating jobs and supporting entrepreneurship

  • Reforming social welfare institutions to reach all citizens

  • Enhancing the healthcare and education systems

  • Institutionalizing real democracy and empowering elected councils

  • Activating genuine civil society beyond token gestures

Bengrina closed with a passionate call to solidarity with the Palestinian people, asserting:

“Our brothers and sisters in Gaza and Jerusalem cry out for justice, dignity, and life. It is our sacred duty to stand with them—not just in prayer, but in every sphere of action: culture, diplomacy, film, social media, and political will. All that we offer is little in comparison to their sacrifice.”
