Bouamama and Zerrouki Lead National Dialogue with Digital Content Creators to Shape Algeria’s Digital Future

Algiers – September 2025 – Algiers hosted today a consultation meeting that may well redefine Algeria’s digital trajectory. The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, and the Minister of Communication, Zoheir Bouamama, jointly presided over the session with digital content creators and key actors in the online sphere, aiming to establish a shared vision for the development of Algeria’s digital landscape.
Opening the proceedings before an audience of officials, experts, and practitioners from across the nation, Minister Zerrouki praised the robust turnout of content creators eager to contribute to the dialogue. He emphasized that the ministry deliberately selected an initial representative group spanning diverse regions and disciplines to ensure inclusivity. The central objective, he explained, was to “listen to the concerns of content creators, accompany them through tailored training, and exchange ideas and experiences in order to forge a shared vision that serves the nation’s digital interests.” Zerrouki further revealed that a broader gathering, scheduled either at the end of this year or the beginning of next, will widen participation and deepen the conversation around pressing challenges.
For his part, Minister Bouamama underscored that the meeting reflects “a joint vision between the two ministries, designed to align with the ongoing digital revolution and support all initiatives that enhance Algeria’s presence in the digital space while projecting a positive image of the country.” He stressed that the profound global transformations currently underway oblige Algeria to adapt rapidly and harness the benefits of technological change.
Bouamama further underlined the transformative role of digital content in the modern media ecosystem. “Content creation has become a decisive force in shaping public opinion, disseminating knowledge, and showcasing national identity,” he stated, noting that this imposes a duty on creators to uphold rigorous standards of quality, credibility, and ethical responsibility. Producing meaningful, high-value digital material that both meets international benchmarks and preserves Algeria’s cultural authenticity, he argued, is imperative.
The Communication Minister also reaffirmed Algeria’s recognition that digital transformation is no longer a policy choice but a historical necessity. He highlighted his ministry’s commitment to revising existing regulatory frameworks, accelerating the adoption of new legislation to govern digital activity, and operationalizing the regulatory authorities for audiovisual media and the press—both print and digital. Importantly, he pledged to institutionalize permanent channels of dialogue with digital creators, ensuring their grievances and proposals translate into actionable policy.
The consultation itself was enriched by a substantive exchange with content creators, who voiced critical concerns, including the absence of incubators to guide and unify their efforts, and the pressing need for reliable, high-quality internet services. Interactive workshops were also convened to address organizational, legal, and economic dimensions of digital content, with a focus on sustainability and professionalization.
This initiative, led jointly by Bouamama and Zerrouki, marks a decisive step toward embedding digital culture as a cornerstone of Algeria’s development. More than a consultation, it signals the state’s recognition that the voices and creativity of its young digital innovators are indispensable assets for the nation’s image, economy, and sovereignty in the digital age.
