Bouamama Reaffirms the State’s Commitment to Strengthening and Supporting National Media

Algiers – October 2025 – The Minister of Communication, Zoheir Bouamama, reaffirmed on Monday the unwavering commitment of the Algerian State to support national media outlets and enhance their professionalism, competence, and effectiveness, underscoring the strategic role of the press in consolidating the nation’s achievements and confronting contemporary challenges.
Speaking at a colloquium organized by the People’s National Assembly (APN) under the theme “Media and Communication: From Serving the Revolution to Meeting Contemporary Challenges,” Bouamama emphasized that the State remains resolutely determined to empower national media institutions so they may fully assume their mission in the service of the “New Algeria” envisioned by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The minister stressed that national media are today, more than ever, called upon to play a central role in addressing national challenges, particularly through the preservation of the gains achieved under Algeria’s renewed governance model. He highlighted the necessity of consolidating a strong internal front, uniting the people with State institutions — foremost among them the National People’s Army (ANP) — while reinforcing the foundations of a dynamic and diversified economy capable of elevating Algeria to the rank of emerging nations.
Bouamama urged journalists and media professionals to project a dignified and accurate image of Algeria, to defend its principles and positions on the international stage, and to foil malicious campaigns aimed at destabilizing the country. He described the national press as “the first line of defense” safeguarding Algeria’s stability, sovereignty, and unity.
Reflecting on the historical dimension of the colloquium’s theme, the minister paid tribute to the press of the Liberation Revolution, describing it as “a school of intellectual and political militancy” that shaped national consciousness and paved the way for the armed struggle for independence.
Bouamama also expressed profound recognition to the pioneers of the Revolutionary Radio, which served as the “voice of resistant Algeria,” and to the Algeria Press Service (APS), which stood as a formidable counterforce to colonial propaganda. He praised their role in ensuring that the voice of the Algerian people and their heroic sacrifices for freedom and sovereignty resonated across the world, establishing a legacy of media resistance rooted in truth, integrity, and patriotism.
