Boughali Hails UN Resolution Backing the “New York Declaration” on the Two-State Solution

Algiers – September 2025 – Brahim Boughali, Speaker of the People’s National Assembly and President of the Arab Parliamentary Union, welcomed the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of a resolution endorsing the “New York Declaration” in support of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. In a statement released by the Algerian parliament, Boughali underscored that the resolution constitutes the only viable path toward ensuring security, stability, and the achievement of a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
Boughali’s remarks reaffirm Algeria’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian cause, a position rooted in principles of justice and resistance against oppression. By emphasizing the necessity of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital, the parliamentary leader placed the declaration within the broader framework of international legality and the collective will of nations standing against colonialism and occupation.
The Arab Parliamentary Union, under Boughali’s leadership, also lauded the diplomatic efforts of Saudi Arabia in spearheading consultations and drafting the “New York Declaration.” These initiatives, it noted, are a testament to a genuine Arab commitment to supporting the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to statehood and sovereignty.
The Union further praised the international momentum generated by this resolution, urging the global community to seize this critical juncture to impose an immediate ceasefire, guarantee the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid, and open safe corridors for relief in the besieged Palestinian territories.
