Police units of the Urban Security Division of Si Mustapha, operating under the authority of the Boumerdes Wilaya Security, have dismantled a particularly dangerous neighbourhood gang composed of 13 individuals, including one woman, the majority of whom were already known to the judicial authorities.
A significant cache of prohibited bladed weapons was also seized.
According to a statement received by our newsroom, the incident followed an alert received via the national emergency hotline (1548), reporting a violent altercation involving bladed weapons in one of the town’s neighbourhoods. The incident disrupted public order and public tranquillity, instilling fear and intimidation among local residents.
In response, law enforcement services immediately launched a thorough investigation, which enabled—within a notably short timeframe—the identification of the gang members and their subsequent arrest, one after another.
Following the completion of the requisite legal procedures, the suspects were brought before the competent judicial authorities on charges of forming and belonging to a neighbourhood gang, assault, and possession of prohibited bladed weapons.
