Brussels Hosts International Gathering to Defend Human Rights in the Rif Region

Algiers, Algeria | May 31st, 2025 — In a significant step within the broader struggle for justice and self-determination, the National Rifian Party convened an international meeting in Brussels to spotlight and condemn the ongoing grave human rights violations in the Rif region. The event, held in the heart of the European Union’s capital, marked a bold escalation in efforts to internationalize the Rifian cause and rally global support for the protection of fundamental freedoms in the region.

The National Rifian Party reiterated its commitment to peaceful resistance and international law, stressing that the plight of the Rif people is not a marginal issue but a fundamental question of dignity, cultural identity, and political accountability. The party emphasized that the meeting in Brussels forms part of a broader strategy aimed at building transnational alliances with rights-based organizations, media professionals, and parliamentarians sympathetic to the Rif struggle.

Speakers at the event highlighted arbitrary arrests, torture, unfair trials, and the systematic targeting of activists and journalists in the Rif region. Calls were made for independent investigations, urgent humanitarian interventions, and greater European political engagement to uphold human rights standards.
