Constantine- In a significant development following the recent case of botulism in the municipality of El Khroub, Constantine, the Association for Consumer Protection (APOCE) has released the results of a comprehensive microbiological analysis conducted by the Pasteur Institute. The analysis was conducted on a sample of the canned tuna brand “Maratun,” which prompted the Ministry of Commerce to initiate the withdrawal of lot 23005235 from the market. Contrary to initial concerns, the findings affirm that the lot adheres to stringent health standards and is deemed safe for human consumption.

The Ministry of Commerce’s decision to recall lot 23005235 of “Maratun” came in the wake of three reported cases of botulism in El Khroub. The situation raised alarm within the local community, prompting immediate measures to ensure public safety. The timely response demonstrated the government’s commitment to protecting its citizens.

In a press release shared on its official Facebook page this Sunday, APOCE disclosed the outcomes of the rigorous microbiological examinations carried out by the Pasteur Institute. These examinations were pivotal in determining whether the canned tuna lot in question was indeed a potential source of the botulism outbreak.
