Chery Algeria Unveils Locally Manufactured Vehicles with Competitive Prices and Pan-African Export Ambitions

Algiers – September 2025 – In an announcement that could reshape Algeria’s automotive industry, Chery Algeria has officially disclosed the full scope of its industrial venture in the country, pledging a large-scale investment, competitive pricing, and a clear commitment to transforming Algeria into a regional hub for car manufacturing and export.
A Strategic Investment and Local Employment Drive
According to Chery Algeria’s Communications Director, Khamssa Boutitah, the project is backed by a $107 million investment plan designed to consolidate Algeria’s industrial base and stimulate economic diversification. The initiative will directly generate 2,000 jobs, including 500 immediate positions at the launch of the factory. Additionally, the project will anchor Chery’s Research and Development Center in Algiers, while the capital will also serve as the headquarters of Chery International’s regional office for North Africa.
Affordable Pricing Tailored to the Algerian Market
Boutitah confirmed that Chery is intent on delivering vehicles at prices aligned with local purchasing power. The Tiggo 2 Pro will debut at approximately 1.7 million DZD, while the Arrizo 5 will be marketed at around 2.8 million DZD, alongside other locally produced models designed to meet the diverse needs of Algerian consumers.
From Local Assembly to a Strong Industrial Integration
The company stressed that this project is not merely about assembly, but about building a sustainable industrial ecosystem. Local integration rates will begin at 15%, steadily rising to 45% by the second year of production, reflecting a strategic move towards cultivating a robust domestic supply chain and enhancing Algeria’s industrial sovereignty.
Exclusive Export Rights to African Markets
Perhaps the most ambitious aspect of the initiative lies in its export orientation. Chery Algeria has secured exclusive rights to export vehicles manufactured in Algeria to seven African countries immediately upon the factory’s operational start. This step is poised to bolster Algeria’s regional economic influence, positioning the country as a key industrial and commercial hub in the African continent.
Chery Algeria emphasized that its participation in the Intra-African Trade Fair was part of a broader commitment to supporting Algeria’s national strategy for industrial development. By consolidating its automotive industry and fostering South-South cooperation, Algeria is steadily advancing towards becoming a decisive player in Africa’s economic integration and industrial renaissance.
