China Signals Openness to Algerian Exports Amid Strengthening Strategic Ties

Algiers, Algeria | June 10th, 2025 —  In a reaffirmation of the robust and enduring strategic partnership between Algeria and China, Brahim Boughali, Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (APN), received Dong Guangli, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Algeria, for high-level talks focused on deepening bilateral cooperation and facilitating the entry of Algerian products into the Chinese market.

The meeting, held within the framework of sustained efforts to enhance Algerian-Chinese relations, underscored the historic, political, economic, and cultural depth that characterizes the alliance between the two nations. According to an APN communiqué, Boughali emphasized the strength and continuity of these ties, while commending the growing inter-parliamentary cooperation, marked by increasing exchanges and policy coordination.

During the discussion, Speaker Boughali stressed the importance of expanding and diversifying areas of bilateral partnership, particularly in the economic sphere. He called for simplified trade procedures and enhanced cultural exchanges that would contribute meaningfully to strengthening people-to-people bonds between Algeria and China.

In a particularly pointed expression of appreciation, Boughali lauded China’s principled and unwavering support for just causes worldwide, placing special emphasis on Beijing’s solidarity with the Palestinian and Sahrawi peoples. He reaffirmed Algeria’s alignment with international efforts promoting justice, sovereignty, and non-interference.

For his part, Ambassador Dong Guangli affirmed that Sino-Algerian relations are longstanding, strategic, and steadily progressing, especially in the economic domain. He highlighted the shared determination of both governments to deepen this cooperation across multiple sectors. The ambassador reiterated China’s steadfast position in support of just causes, once again voicing unequivocal support for both Palestine and Western Sahara.

In a major announcement likely to resonate in Algerian economic circles, Ambassador Dong confirmed China’s readiness to facilitate the access of Algerian goods to Chinese markets. This will include administrative streamlining and favorable trade mechanisms, offering Algeria new opportunities to diversify its export destinations and integrate more fully into the Asian market.

The meeting is widely seen as a milestone in Algeria’s broader diplomatic and economic engagement with China, aligning with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s vision of a more diversified economy, stronger South-South cooperation, and greater leverage on the international stage.
