ALGIERS- Colombian President Gustavo Petro has affirmed his country’s endorsement of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s appeal to initiate legal proceedings at the International Criminal Court against the Zionist entity. This entity has been perpetrating massacres against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip since October 7th.

President Petro expressed his support through a post on his official account on the “X” platform (formerly Twitter). He stated, “The Republic of Colombia will actively contribute to the Republic of Algeria’s call for legal action against the Prime Minister of the Zionist entity. This legal action aims to hold him accountable for his war crimes, including the massacres of innocent children, civilians, and the Palestinian people.”
Furthermore, President Petro announced that the Colombian Foreign Minister will meet with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, on Friday.
In response to the recent massacre committed by the occupation forces against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Colombia summoned its ambassador to the Zionist entity for consultations. This action was taken to protest the violation of international humanitarian law.
President Tebboune had previously urged “the free people of the world, the Arab nations, and international organizations to file a lawsuit at the International Criminal Court and other human rights bodies against the Zionist entity’s continuous violations against the Palestinian people.” He emphasized that this legal action is crucial in ending decades of impunity for crimes committed against the Palestinians.
By supporting President Tebboune’s call for legal action, Colombia demonstrates its commitment to upholding international law and seeking justice for the Palestinian people.
