Communication Minister Meziane: IATF 2025 Is Africa’s Defining Economic Stage

Algiers, Algeria | With less than a week until the launch of the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), Algeria has set the stage for what Minister of Communication Mohamed Meziane described as “the most important economic and commercial gathering on the African continent.” From September 4 to 10, the capital will become the epicenter of Africa’s economic aspirations, hosting an unprecedented convergence of leaders, investors, innovators, and media professionals.
Speaking before a large assembly of journalists designated to cover the fair, Meziane underscored that IATF 2025 is not a routine trade show but a continental milestone — a platform designed to advance the process of African integration, reinforce intra-African exchanges, and align economic cooperation with the goals of sustainable development.
Media as a Force Multiplier
Far from reducing the role of the press to coverage alone, Meziane elevated it to the rank of strategic partnership. “Media is not a spectator but a central actor in the success of this event. It must project Algeria’s image as an open, secure, and investment-friendly country, while giving Africa the voice it deserves,” he affirmed.
The Minister urged journalists to embrace professionalism and rigor, making their reporting a driver of visibility and credibility. He emphasized the duty of African media to highlight successful experiences, amplify opportunities, and dismantle outdated stereotypes about the continent. “Africa must tell its own story, with its own voice, and through the efforts of its own children,” he declared.
Algeria as Africa’s Gateway
By hosting IATF 2025, Algeria is sending a resounding message: it is not merely a venue, but a bridge of exchange and integration between African states. Meziane stressed that the event is aligned with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s doctrine of “African solutions to African problems”, reaffirming Algeria’s unwavering commitment to collective progress, solidarity, and sovereignty.
The Minister further revealed that his department has mobilized every logistical and media resource — from dedicated press facilities to live debate platforms — to ensure a comprehensive, dynamic, and global coverage of the fair. With over 1,100 accreditations already processed, including 175 from foreign media, the fair is expected to resonate well beyond Africa’s borders.
Beyond Economics: A Human and Cultural Convergence
While the IATF is framed as an economic and commercial powerhouse, Meziane stressed its human and cultural dimension. The fair will act as a meeting point for policymakers, entrepreneurs, creators, and journalists, offering a space for dialogue and collaboration that transcends trade.
“This is not merely a market,” the Minister said, “it is a place of encounter, of shared heritage, and of common ambition. It is where Africa’s dynamism will find its fullest expression.”
Workshops, cultural showcases, and strategic dialogues will further cement Algeria’s role as both a hub of opportunity and a custodian of Africa’s collective identity.
The IATF 2025, as framed by Meziane, is more than an exhibition — it is a declaration of Africa’s determination to redefine its narrative and assert control over its destiny. For Algeria, hosting this historic gathering is a demonstration of its leadership and vision, positioning the country as an indispensable actor in shaping Africa’s future.
As Meziane concluded: “This event is not simply about commerce. It is about Africa reclaiming its place, building bridges of cooperation, and showing the world that the continent’s future will be written by Africans themselves.”
