Algiers, Algeria | June 12th, 2025 — In a forceful address before the Council of the Nation, Algeria’s Communication Minister, Mohamed Meziane, issued a stark warning against the systematic campaign of appropriation and distortion aimed at undermining the Algerian nation’s civilizational and historical essence. Meziane pointed to hostile factions actively working to tarnish Algeria’s image, heritage, and collective memory, affirming that these nefarious attempts will continue to meet resolute resistance from a proud and historically conscious Algerian people.

Speaking during a public session chaired by Council Speaker Azouz Nasri, and attended by Kaouther Krikou, Minister of Relations with Parliament, Meziane underlined that the national media will remain a frontline defender of Algeria’s cultural and historical legacy. He emphasized that this duty is part of a broader national strategy led by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who has prioritized memory and identity as foundational pillars of his presidential agenda.

“Our media institutions,” declared Meziane, “will continue to work hand-in-hand with all national bodies to safeguard Algeria’s cultural and civilizational wealth—an inalienable component of our sovereignty and national identity.”

The Communication Minister urged constant vigilance and unified mobilization to honor and protect Algeria’s rich heritage, which he described as a cornerstone of national unity. He stressed the importance of upholding every facet of the country’s identity—linguistic, historical, religious, and cultural—with pride and tenacity.

In this context, Meziane reiterated the Ministry’s full support to national media outlets in their ongoing battle against attempts by “malicious foreign circles” seeking to falsify, loot, or appropriate elements of Algeria’s rich cultural heritage. He condemned these groups for harboring “a deep and historical animosity towards Algeria,” characterizing their actions as desperate and futile assaults against a sovereign nation with a legacy that dates back millennia.

Algeria’s media landscape, he concluded, must remain a bastion of truth and cultural resistance, echoing the sacrifices of the ancestors and projecting the values of national pride and continuity across generations.
