Council of Ministers Approves Organic Law on the Judiciary and Advances Strategic National Projects

Algiers – October 2025 – In a session held on Sunday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, presided over the Council of Ministers, which approved the long-awaited organic law governing the statute of the judiciary. This legislative milestone represents a pivotal step in consolidating the independence, professionalism, and accountability of Algeria’s judicial institutions, reinforcing the state’s commitment to uphold the rule of law and strengthen public trust in the justice system.
The Council further endorsed key measures aimed at securing Algeria’s water resources, approving the construction of seawater desalination plants in three selected wilayas: Chlef, Mostaganem, and Tlemcen. The locations of an additional three plants will be determined in forthcoming Council meetings. This initiative underscores the state’s strategic vision to address growing water demands, enhance resource sustainability, and provide citizens with reliable access to potable water, while positioning Algeria at the forefront of innovative solutions in environmental and civil infrastructure.
Moreover, the President emphasized the critical importance of the forthcoming 4th edition of the African Start-up Conference, highlighting its continuity with the highly successful Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) held earlier this September in Algiers. This event is expected to further catalyze entrepreneurship, foster regional collaboration, and strengthen Algeria’s role as a hub for innovation and economic integration within the African continent.
