CREA Champions Employer Engagement and Solidarity with Palestine at the 113th International Labour Conference

In Geneva, CREA President Kamel Moula meets ILO Director-General to discuss Algeria’s economic development, the social pact, and Palestine’s upgraded status within the ILO framework.

Algiers, Algeria | June 13th, 2025 — On the sidelines of the 113th International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, a high-level working session was held between the President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), Mr. Kamel Moula, and the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo.

The meeting focused on the pivotal role played by Algerian employers in driving national economic development and consolidating the social pact, particularly in the context of Algeria’s commitment to inclusive growth and productive dialogue among key stakeholders.

During the exchange, Mr. Moula expressed appreciation for the ILO Director-General’s insightful and forward-looking report, which was presented during the conference’s plenary session. He notably commended the ILO’s principled position and leadership in supporting the proposal to elevate Palestine’s status within the Organization.

“This courageous and just stance not only affirms the ILO’s foundational values of justice and equity but also sends a strong signal of solidarity with the Palestinian people,” Moula stated, reaffirming CREA’s support for global efforts rooted in human dignity and fairness.

The Director-General, in return, congratulated CREA for its substantial and results-driven contribution to the promotion of social dialogue in Algeria. He acknowledged the success of CREA’s concrete initiatives aimed at strengthening collaboration between employers, workers, and public institutions, highlighting their relevance as a model of constructive engagement in the region.

“I encourage CREA to sustain and expand these efforts, which have proven critical to national cohesion and economic resilience,” Mr. Houngbo emphasized.

The meeting concluded with mutual recognition of the importance of continued collaboration between the ILO and Algerian employers, as Algeria seeks to deepen reform efforts and ensure inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development.
