Algiers, Algeria | June 22nd, 2025 — In a bold video statement, Moroccan opposition journalist Dounia Filali delivered a scathing critique of the Moroccan regime’s silence in the face of the escalating war between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Zionist entity. Filali framed Morocco’s non-position as “a stain on national dignity” and accused Rabat of betraying the Islamic world’s collective stance in favor of normalization-driven cowardice.

“This is not neutrality,” declared Filali. “This is silence borne of fear and dependency. The Moroccan regime today stands speechless, spineless, and complicit.”

According to Filali, the current conflict—sparked by the Zionist entity’s sudden and calculated military strike on June 12 against Iranian nuclear and military sites—reflects a deeper crisis in the global order and an unraveling of regional alliances.

Morocco, however, said nothing.

Filali emphasized that even countries such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Lebanon issued a joint statement denouncing the Zionist aggression as a violation of Iran’s sovereignty and a breach of international law. Morocco, in stark contrast, remained absent—not just from the statement, but from the entire diplomatic discourse.

She attributed this silence to Morocco’s December 2020 normalization with the Zionist entity and the resulting strategic entanglement, stating, “Rabat is no longer free to speak. It is shackled by military and economic dependence on Tel Aviv, and its foreign policy is driven by fear of retaliation.”

Filali also reminded her viewers of the long-frozen diplomatic ties between Morocco and Iran since 2018, when Rabat severed relations based on unsubstantiated allegations of Iranian support to the Polisario Front through Hezbollah—claims Tehran categorically denied.

Meanwhile, Filali drew a stark comparison with Algeria, which immediately and publicly condemned the Zionist entity’s assault on Iran. Algeria’s Foreign Ministry denounced the attack as a “grave breach of international law and an obstruction of peace efforts.” At the United Nations, Algeria’s representative further called out the Zionist entity as a “rogue actor” destabilizing the entire Middle East.

Filali praised Algeria’s stance, stating, “Algeria has a voice. Algeria has a backbone. It stands on the side of law, sovereignty, and dignity.”

She continued by exposing how Morocco’s regime, under the pretext of neutrality, has in fact chosen complicity. “This is not passive silence. It is strategic submission. The regime fears losing favor with its Zionist partners, and fears being left in the cold should the Zionist entity emerge weakened.”

Filali warned that Morocco’s reputation is already paying the price. “Whether Israel wins or loses this war, Morocco has already lost—its honor.”

Algeria has chosen resistance. Morocco has chosen servitude.
