Dr. Abdelmadjid Birem Elected New President of Algerian Muslim Scholars ‘Ulama’ Association

ALGIERS- Dr. Abdelmadjid Birem has been elected as the new president of the Algerian Muslim Scholars ‘Ulama’ Association, succeeding Dr. Abdelrazak Guessoum.

In the elections held during the sixth general assembly of the association at the Construction Workers’ Solidarity in Zeralda, Abdelmadjid Birem secured 393 votes, while the former president, Dr. Abdelrazak Guessoum, received 125 votes.

Abdelmadjid Birem, who previously held the position of Professor of Islamic Sharia at Umm Al-Qura University in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and before that served as a Professor of Islamic Sharia at the University of Algiers’ Kharouba Faculty, also worked as the Coordinator of the Higher Advisory Body of the Algerian Muslim Scholars Association.
