“Driv’Zone” Karting Circuit Inaugurated in Blida: A Milestone for Algerian Motorsports on Independence Day

Algiers, Algeria | July 5th, 2025 — As Algeria celebrates the 63rd anniversary of Independence and Youth Day (5 July 1962–2025), the province of Blida marked a new milestone with the official inauguration of “Driv’Zone,” a state-of-the-art karting and leisure track, in the municipality of Ouled Yaich. The launch took place on Thursday, July 3, under the patronage of Blida’s Wali, Mr. Ibrahim Ouchane.

The circuit is designed to accommodate both amateur drivers and children, as well as professional racing athletes. It is also expected to serve as a national and international training hub for karting competitions, positioning itself as a major catalyst for automotive sports development in the region. Furthermore, it is envisioned as a platform for identifying and nurturing young Algerian talent.

At the heart of this visionary project is Nassim Sidi Said, founder of the racetrack and a leading figure in Algeria’s motorsport community. In an exclusive interview with Dzair Tube, Sidi Said revealed the inspiration and persistence behind “Driv’Zone”:

“We began this project in 2016 by submitting a land request to several wilayas. At the time, we had 20 years of experience—myself and my teammates—as car and karting racers. We used to practice in the few circuits available, mostly on the outskirts of Algiers. We even organized street races, fully licensed and legal, but we always lacked a safe, closed track.”

Sidi Said added that the limited infrastructure never diminished their ambition. Instead, they focused on growing the community:

“We welcomed new enthusiasts—young people, families who brought their children to learn. We succeeded in creating a strong base of drivers, took them to international competitions, and even organized championships. But our greatest need remained unfulfilled: a private, secure facility to allow for recreational karting, which is the foundation of competitive practice. This is also the environment where we can build a karting school.”

Today, that missing element has been fulfilled. “Driv’Zone” stands as a symbol of perseverance, talent development, and future possibilities for Algerian motorsports.

A Turning Point for Algerian Karting

Speaking at the inauguration, Amine Al-Aybi, President of the Algerian Federation of Mechanical Sports, hailed the circuit as a landmark gain for the karting sector:

“This is a genuine accomplishment. Having a karting facility in the heart of a wilaya with such a rich mechanical sports background is essential. It’s perfectly placed and perfectly timed. It will serve as a space for education, psychological relief, and focused training. We’re not just developing sport—we’re shaping vocation.”

He emphasized that this circuit is more than an athletic venue—it is a social and developmental platform:

“Many young people in Algeria are passionate but lack an outlet. This project gives them one. Our presence here isn’t ceremonial—we’re fully committed to accompanying and supporting these young talents in their journey.”

Launched during the Independence and Youth Day festivities, the project embodies Algeria’s spirit of innovation, youth empowerment, and cultural renewal.
