Eastern Mining Rail Corridor Gains Momentum as Algeria Advances 422 km Strategic Infrastructure Project

In a sustained effort to reinforce its transport infrastructure and support the development of its extractive industries, Algeria continues to advance the realization of the Eastern Mining Rail Line, a major project linking the wilayas of Annaba and Tébessa over a distance of 422 kilometers. According to an official communiqué from the Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, the project is progressing at a steady pace, reflecting a consistent rhythm of execution across multiple construction sites.
Field operations are being carried out continuously, with work maintained around the clock to ensure adherence to established timelines. This sustained mobilization underscores the strategic importance attributed to the project, which is positioned as a key component in enhancing the efficiency of rail transport and facilitating improved connectivity to mining zones in the eastern part of the country.
Ongoing works encompass a wide range of technical operations, including large-scale earthworks, excavation and development of tunnels, construction of engineering structures, and the installation of railway tracks across various segments extending from Annaba to the southern reaches of Tébessa. The diversity and simultaneity of these activities reflect a coordinated approach aimed at accelerating overall project delivery.
Particular emphasis has been placed on the continuation of construction during nighttime periods at several sites, a measure designed to maintain momentum and optimize productivity. This operational continuity illustrates the commitment of the authorities to meeting deadlines while ensuring that the project advances in accordance with technical and logistical requirements.
