Egyptian War Hero Exposes Forged Leak: “Algerian Blood Was Shed on the Sinai Front—History Cannot Be Distorted”

Algiers – October 2025 – Algiers relations were firmly defended this week by retired Egyptian General and celebrated October War veteran Hamdy Bukhit, who categorically refuted a fabricated audio recording attributed to the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser. The false leak sought to belittle Algeria’s contribution to Egypt’s struggle, but Bukhit dismantled the narrative as nothing more than a weapon of fourth-generation warfare designed to fracture Arab unity.
Speaking to Algeria International Radio, the seasoned strategist emphasized that such smear campaigns are orchestrated by “foreign-paid forces led by global Zionism,” deliberately timed to coincide with the anniversary of Nasser’s death. “These are not spontaneous initiatives,” Bukhit affirmed, “but calculated operations aimed at targeting the collective memory of our nation and severing its ties with historical leaders who embodied Arab dignity.”
As an eyewitness and a decorated commander of the Third Field Army during the 1973 October War, Bukhit offered testimony that transcends speculation. He recalled vividly: “The Algerian armored brigade fought shoulder to shoulder with us. I saw with my own eyes Algerian tanks and soldiers deployed on the frontlines.” He further stressed that President Houari Boumédiène personally financed the brigade and even oversaw the shipping of tanks from Odessa to Egypt.
His voice carried a deeper emotional weight when he recounted a moment of shared sacrifice: “I was wounded in battle and evacuated alongside an Algerian pilot whose aircraft had been hit. We were transported together to Cairo and later to the recovery center. In that moment, Egyptian blood mixed with Algerian blood in the field of honor.”
Bukhit underscored that Algeria’s unwavering support during one of Egypt’s most defining battles cannot be erased or rewritten, noting that the two nations’ historic alliance continues to manifest in their unified positions on Palestine and other existential causes.
“The bond between Egypt and Algeria was written in blood and sacrifice,” he concluded powerfully. “It cannot be shaken by a football match, a reckless broadcaster, or a forged recording. History is not for sale, and the sacrifices of Algerians on Egyptian soil will forever remain a testament to true brotherhood.”
