Algiers – October 2025 – In a gesture reflecting Algeria’s determination to broaden its international partnerships, Abdelkader Bengrina, President of the El-Binaa al-Watani Movement, received on Thursday, October 1, 2025, Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Anis Matta, who was accompanied by a high-level delegation as part of his official working visit to Algeria. The encounter, held at the headquarters of El-Binaa, symbolized the growing significance of Algerian-Indonesian relations, which both sides view as entering a phase of genuine consolidation and expansion.
The meeting was attended by leading figures of El-Binaa, including Nassreddine Salem Cherif, President of the National Shura Council, as well as vice-presidents of the movement, members of parliament, and several senior officials, reflecting the weight attached by the party to Algeria’s ties with Jakarta.
Towards Strategic Algerian-Indonesian Relations
Discussions focused on the future of bilateral relations, with both sides underlining their shared aspiration to elevate cooperation to the level of a strategic partnership, particularly in the fields of investment, commerce, and economic exchanges. Bengrina commended this trajectory, stressing that Algeria’s vision rests on the principle of diversifying partnerships across continents while prioritizing relations with fraternal and friendly nations.
Both Algeria and Indonesia, bound by their shared histories of anti-colonial struggle and their participation in the Bandung Conference of 1955, stand today at a new threshold, seeking to extend their solidarity into tangible economic, political, and cultural gains.
The meeting concluded with mutual expressions of optimism, with both sides pledging to sustain dialogue and pursue avenues that would transform their partnership into a model of intercontinental cooperation grounded in mutual respect, shared values, and collective prosperity.
