Energy Cooperation: Minister Mourad Adjal Receives a Delegation from General Electric

Algiers – November 2025 – The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, received on Monday a high-level delegation from the American conglomerate General Electric (GE), led by Joseph Anis, Executive Director for Energy Services across South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa at GE Vernova, according to a statement released by the Ministry.
During this ministerial meeting, which brought together several senior officials, Minister Adjal reaffirmed the pivotal importance the Algerian government attaches to the energy and renewable energy sector, describing it as a national priority and a cornerstone for achieving sustainable development. He emphasized that the challenges facing this vital sector necessitate the careful selection of strategic partners capable of contributing effectively to Algeria’s long-term energy vision. In this context, the minister commended the partnership between Sonelgaz and General Electric, describing it as a model of excellence and a reference point for American and international investors seeking to engage in Algeria’s energy landscape.
For his part, Joseph Anis expressed his deep appreciation for the strong and enduring cooperation between General Electric and Algeria’s Ministry of Energy, represented by Sonelgaz. He reiterated his company’s commitment to further strengthening this partnership, praising Sonelgaz as one of GE’s most important and reliable partners in the region. Anis also highlighted GE’s readiness to support Algeria’s energy transition efforts and meet the growing demands of the national and international energy markets, which have witnessed continuous expansion in recent years.
The discussions between both parties focused on exploring new avenues for collaboration, particularly in technology transfer, renewable energy integration, and capacity-building initiatives. Both sides expressed mutual determination to consolidate and diversify their partnership over the next five years to align with Algeria’s strategic objectives in energy efficiency, sustainability, and modernization of infrastructure.
